Should I have safety switches installed in my switchboard?

Safety switches are your insurance against electric shock. They are designed to prevent injury or death. They automatically shut off the electricity supply when current is detected from faulty switches, wiring or electrical appliances. This stops the chance of current flowing to earth, through a person and electrocuting them. If you buy a property without safety switches, you must install a safety switch on all power circuits within 3 months of the property transfer. Rental homes must have a safety switches installed for the power circuits by the owner within 6 months of the rental agreement.
